#### 19 False complaints and providing false information in relation to complaints (1) A person must not make a complaint to which this Act applies to an AFP appointee about action taken by an AFP appointee if the person knows that the complaint is false in a material particular. Penalty: 20 penalty units. (2) A person must not, in relation to a complaint to which this Act applies, provide information to an AFP appointee that the person knows to be false in a material particular. Penalty: 20 penalty units. (3) Proceedings for an offence against this section must not be brought except with the consent in writing of: (a) the Ombudsman or an authorised person; or (b) if the Ombudsman or an authorised person refuses to consent—the Attorney‑General. (4) In this section: > authorised person means a person who has been authorised in writing by the Ombudsman to give consents under subsection (3).
