Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

These Regulations specify which Australian jurisdictions count as “participating jurisdictions” under the Community Based Sentences (Interstate Transfer) Act 2023 and start when section 28 of that Act commences. (Regs 2–3)

Mechanically they declare the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia as participating jurisdictions (reg 3). This determines the places to which community‑based sentence transfers under the Act can be directed; the Regulations do not themselves set transfer procedures or fees.
