Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What these rules do: They add Darwin Community College to the list of government bodies covered by Australia's Commonwealth motor vehicle insurance scheme.

Why this matters: Under the Commonwealth Motor Vehicles (Liability) Act 1959, if someone driving a Commonwealth vehicle causes an accident, the Commonwealth government (not the individual driver) is responsible for paying compensation to injured people. These regulations ensure that staff or representatives of Darwin Community College receive this same protection when driving Commonwealth vehicles.

In simple terms: It is an administrative update to ensure this particular college's drivers are covered by the government's compulsory third-party car insurance.
