Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This instrument repeals (cancels) the Commonwealth Cleaning Services Guidelines 2012.

What this does:

The 2012 Guidelines previously set specific rules, standards, and employment conditions that cleaning contractors had to follow when working in Commonwealth government buildings (offices, schools, defence facilities, etc.).
Those specific guidelines no longer exist.

Who is affected:

Cleaning contractors bidding for or working on Australian Government cleaning contracts
Government agencies managing property services
Cleaning workers previously covered by the mandatory standards in the 2012 Guidelines

Why it matters: This removes a dedicated regulatory framework that imposed specific requirements on how cleaning services were procured and delivered in Commonwealth buildings. Government agencies and contractors must now rely on general workplace laws, modern awards, and standard procurement rules rather than these industry-specific guidelines.
