Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This regulation performs a simple housekeeping function: it removes (repeals) an outdated set of rules from 1975 that governed allowances for Commonwealth Banks.

What it does:

Repeals the Commonwealth Banks (Allowances) Regulations made in 1975 (Statutory Rules 1975 No. 138).
This effectively cancels the old rules, likely because they were obsolete, replaced by newer policies, or no longer relevant to how Commonwealth Banks operated.

Who it affects:

Primarily affects administrative staff and legal record-keepers who maintain the statute book.
Indirectly ensures that Commonwealth Banks (now privatised entities like Commonwealth Bank of Australia) no longer operate under these specific 1975 allowance rules.

Why it matters: Cleaning up repealed legislation prevents confusion about which rules are currently in force and ensures the law remains accessible and up-to-date.
