sec.54 Minister may remove existing members

The Minister may, within 1 year after the commencement, remove an existing member from office as a member by notice given to the member. In deciding whether to remove an existing member from office, the Minister must have regard to the matters mentioned in section 9A(2). If the Minister decides to remove an existing member from office by notice given under subsection (1), the removal takes effect on the day stated in the notice, which must not be earlier than the day the notice is given to the member. No compensation is payable to a person who is removed from office under this section. To remove any doubt, it is declared that subsection (4) does not limit or otherwise affect a person’s right to a benefit or an entitlement that has accrued before the person is removed from office under this section.
