Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This Ordinance updates how laws operate on the Cocos (Keeling) Islands. It renames the territory’s applied‑laws instrument, requires most local instruments to be registered as Commonwealth “notifiable instruments” rather than published in a Gazette or newspaper (with an exception for Western Australia), and repeals the old Co‑operative Societies Ordinance while temporarily treating existing co‑operatives as registered under the WA Co‑operatives Act for six months. It mainly affects local administrators, anyone who must publish legal instruments, and island co‑operative societies.
