80Department may retain documents and things

#### 80 Department may retain documents and things (1) If a document or thing is produced to an authorised person in accordance with a notice served under section 79: (a) the authorised person may take possession of, and may make copies of, the document or thing, or take extracts from the document; and (b) the Department may retain possession of the document or thing for such period as is necessary: (i) for the purposes of this Act; or (ii) for the purposes of an investigation to which the document or thing relates; or (iii) to enable evidence to be secured for the purposes of a prosecution or proceedings for a civil penalty order. (2) While the Department retains the document or thing, it must allow a person who would otherwise be entitled to inspect the document or view the thing to do so at the times that the person would ordinarily be able to do so.
