#### 161 Notice of intention to cancel membership 161 Notice of intention to cancel membership > > (1) The board of a co-operative must ensure that not less than 28 days notice of its intention to declare the membership of a member to be cancelled is given to the member. > > > (2) Notice is not required to be given under this section if— > > > > > (a) the member’s whereabouts are unknown to the co-operative; and > > > > > (b) the amount required to be repaid to the member in relation to the cancelled membership (whether because of the cancellation of shares or otherwise) is not more than $100 (or any other amount prescribed by the National Regulations). > > > (3) Notice may be given by publication of a notice in a newspaper in the district in which the registered office of the co-operative is situated if— > > > > > (a) the member’s whereabouts are unknown to the co-operative; and > > > > > (b) the amount required to be repaid to the member in relation to the cancelled membership (whether because of the cancellation of shares or otherwise) is more than the applicable amount under subsection (2) (b).
