220 Partial abolition of Mocambique rule
(1) The jurisdiction of a court in any proceeding is not excluded or
limited only because the proceeding relates to land or other
immovable property outside the ACT.
(2) Subsection (1) does not authorise a court to adjudicate on title to, or
the right to the possession of, land or other immovable property
outside the ACT.
(3) A court is not required to exercise jurisdiction in a proceeding relating
to land or other immovable property outside the ACT if the court
considers that it is an inappropriate forum in relation to the
proceeding.
Note The Law Reform (Abolitions and Repeals) Act 1996 abolished the
following:
• the estate pur autre vie
• the common law misdemeanours of criminal libel, blasphemous libel,
seditious libel and obscene libel
• the right to levy or make distress for rent.
