217 Abolition of husband’s liability for wife’s torts and
premarital obligations
A husband is not, only because of being the husband, liable—
(a) in relation to a tort committed by his wife, whether before or
after the marriage, or in relation to a contract entered into, or a
debt or obligation incurred, by his wife before the marriage; or
(b) to be sued, or made a party to a legal proceeding brought, in
relation to the tort, contract, debt or obligation.
