Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This instrument repeals (cancels) an older aviation safety rule called Civil Aviation Order 103.4.

What it does:

Removes an outdated technical regulation from the books.
Protects existing aircraft: If an aircraft already had a specific modification to its altimeter (the instrument showing height) approved under the old rules, that modification remains legal. Specifically, this applies to changes to the "dial and pointer presentation" of 3-pointer type sensitive altimeters.
The modification is now treated as if CASA (the Civil Aviation Safety Authority) directly approved it, even though the original order is gone.

Who it affects:

Aircraft operators who had 3-pointer sensitive altimeters modified before this order took effect.
CASA, which no longer needs to maintain the repealed order.

Why it matters: This is regulatory housekeeping—cleaning up old rules while ensuring aircraft with existing compliant modifications don't suddenly become illegal.
