Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this does This instrument scraps an old aviation safety rule called Civil Aviation Order 101.4. The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) uses this power to clean up outdated regulations from the rulebook.

Who it affects

Aircraft owners or operators with planes previously certified under CAO 101.4
Anyone involved in maintaining aircraft certification records

Key details

Out with the old: CAO 101.4 is completely abolished (repealed).
Protection for existing aircraft: If your plane was already legally certified under the old rule before this order took effect, that certification remains valid. The aircraft continues to be recognised as certified in the transport category (a classification meaning the plane is approved for commercial passenger or cargo operations).
Why it matters: This removes obsolete red tape without forcing operators to spend time and money re-certifying aircraft that were already compliant. It’s a housekeeping measure with a safety net.
