6 Acknowledgement of Larrakia (1) Darwin is on Larrakia country and the City acknowledges the Larrakia people as the Traditional Owners of the Darwin region and pays its respects to Larrakia Elders past and present and emerging leaders. (2) The City is committed to a positive and cooperative relationship with the Larrakia People based on respect for the history and values of the Larrakia People and their important role in the community. Note for by-law 6 Under section 5 of the Act, the rights and interests of Aboriginal traditional owners are to be recognised.
