The chief executive may, for any reason including where personal leave credits have been exhausted, and subject to the production of documentary evidence, grant an employee a period of unpaid personal leave for personal illness or injury or for the care or support of a member of the employee’s immediate family or household who is ill or injured or affected by an unexpected emergency. This is in addition to the entitlement to unpaid carer’s leave that employees have under the NES. NOTE: In such circumstances, alternative arrangements are also provided for at subclause E4.59.
