533ACourt may issue or transmit court documents electronically

533A Court may issue or transmit court documents electronically (1) Without limiting any other power of the Court, any order, process or other document that the Court, the President, a magistrate for the Court, a bail justice or a court official may issue or transmit under this Act or any other Act, statutory rule or other enactment or law may be issued or transmitted by electronic communication. (2) If any provision of an Act, a statutory rule or other enactment or law in Victoria permits or requires any order, process or other document to be issued or transmitted by manual means, that requirement is taken to be met if the issuing or transmission occurs by electronic communication. If an Act or other law requires or permits the Court to sign or seal a document, the Court could use an electronic signature or electronic seal and the requirement is met in the same way as if the document had been signed or sealed by hand. (2A) Without limiting subsections (1) and (2), the issuing or transmission of any order, process or document by electronic communication may include the use of an information system. (3) Nothing in this section— (a) limits the Court, the President, a magistrate for the Court, a bail justice or a court official from issuing or providing any order, process or other document in paper form; or (b) affects or limits any practice, procedure or rules of court that provide for electronic processes in the Court; or (c) affects or limits the power to make rules of court; or (d) limits any other power of the Court, the President, a magistrate for the Court, a bail justice or a court official.
