317 Disciplinary action by relevant presiding officer (1) A relevant presiding officer may do 1 or more of the following (each of which is disciplinary action) in relation to a young detainee: (a) warn the young detainee about committing a behaviour breach; (b) reprimand the young detainee; (c) impose a behaviour management consequence, or a combination of behaviour management consequences, on the young detainee. (2) In deciding whether to impose a behaviour management consequence, the relevant presiding officer must consider the age, developmental capacity, rehabilitation needs and any known history of the young detainee.

(3) The relevant presiding officer may impose a behaviour management consequence if satisfied that the consequence to be imposed is— (a) reasonable in the circumstances; and (b) proportionate to the circumstances and gravity of the behaviour.
