#### 17 Liabilities in relation to children that are registrable maintenance liabilities (1) Subject to section 19, a liability is a registrable maintenance liability if: (a) it is a liability of: (i) a parent of a child to pay a periodic amount to a parent or non‑parent carer of the child for the maintenance of the child; or (ii) a step‑parent of a child to pay a periodic amount to a parent or non‑parent carer of the child for the maintenance of the child; and (b) either of the following subparagraphs applies: (i) it arises under a court order or court registered maintenance agreement; (ii) it is a collection agency maintenance liability. (2) Subject to section 19, a liability is a registrable maintenance liability if it arises under a child support assessment.
