#### 111 Duties of payers and payees (1) The payer of an enforceable maintenance liability shall, within 14 days after each occasion on which the payer commences to be an employee of an employer, notify the Registrar of the commencement in the manner specified by the Registrar. > Note: Section 16A provides for the Registrar to specify the manner in which a notice may be given. (1A) For the purposes of subsection (1), if: (a) on a particular day (the application day), the payer of a registered maintenance liability makes an application under subsection 37B(2); and (b) as a result of that application, there is a low‑income non‑enforcement period in relation to the liability for the purposes of section 37B; the liability is taken to be an enforceable maintenance liability throughout so much of the period as occurs on or after the application day. (2) If the payer or payee of an enforceable maintenance liability changes his or her name or address, the payer or payee must, within 14 days after that change of name or address, notify the Registrar of the change in the manner specified by the Registrar. (3) A person who contravenes subsection (1) or (2) commits an offence punishable on conviction by a fine not exceeding 10 penalty units. (3A) Subsection (3) is an offence of strict liability. (4) It is a defence to a prosecution for an offence against subsection (3) if the person charged proves that the person notified the Registrar of the happening of the relevant event as soon as reasonably practicable after the happening of the event.
