#### 21 Short-term emergency exemption 21 Short-term emergency exemption > A worker engaged in child-related work and any adult person who resides at the home of the worker, and the employer of the worker, are exempt from the Act if— > > > (a) the employer is of the opinion that the engagement of that worker is necessary in the circumstances of the case to prevent an increased risk to the safety of children, and > > > (b) the worker has been engaged for a period of not more than 5 consecutive working days without complying with Division 2 of Part 2 of the Act.
