#### 21 Voluntary work
(1) For the purposes of paragraph 12(2)(d) of Schedule 2 to the Family Assistance Act, an individual engages in a recognised participation type during a CCS fortnight if he or she engages in any of the following during the fortnight:
(a) voluntary work which could reasonably be expected to improve the individual’s work skills or employment prospects, or both;
(b) voluntary work for a charitable, welfare or community organisation;
(c) voluntary work for a school, preschool or a centre‑based day care service.
> Note: Example: For paragraph (c), examples include reading to children, providing support in a classroom or learning environment, supporting the operations of the facility, and involvement in a parents and citizens committee or a management committee.
(2) For the purposes of paragraph 12(4)(b) of that Schedule, if the individual, in a CCS fortnight, does not engage in any recognised participation type except the participation type prescribed under this section, the maximum number of hours that are to be counted towards the prescribed participation type in that fortnight is 16 hours.
