Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This regulation sets the amount of money from cattle and beef industry levies that must fund research activities.

Key points:

The funding split: It requires that 8/13 (approximately 61.5%) of all money collected from levies on cattle and beef be paid into the Research Account.
Who it affects: Cattle producers and beef industry businesses that pay the levy, plus the research organisations that receive funding from the Research Account.
Why it matters: This ensures a fixed portion of industry contributions is reserved specifically for research purposes, rather than being diverted to administrative costs or other expenses.
