#### 96 Proof of age may be required 96 Proof of age may be required > > (1) The person for the time being in charge of a casino, an agent of the casino operator, a casino employee, an inspector or a police officer may if he or she has reasonable cause to suspect that a person in the casino is a minor— > > > > > (a) require that person to state his or her correct age, name and address, and > > > > > (b) if it is suspected on reasonable grounds that the age, name or address given in response to the requirement is false—require the person to produce evidence of its correctness. > > > (2) A person must not fail to comply with a requirement under subsection (1) (a) and must not, without reasonable cause, fail to comply with a requirement under subsection (1) (b). > > > > Maximum penalty—10 penalty units. > > > (3) It is not an offence to fail to comply with a requirement under subsection (1) if the person who made the requirement did not inform the person of whom the requirement was made, at the time it was made, that it is an offence to fail to comply with the requirement. > > > (4) If a person contravenes subsection (2), a police officer may arrest the person without warrant and bring him or her before a Judge of the Local Court or authorised officer within the meaning of the [Criminal Procedure Act 1986](/view/html/inforce/current/act-1986-209) to be dealt with according to law. > > **s 96:** Am 2001 No 121, Sch 2.29 \[1\]; 2025 No 61, Sch 2.4.
