166 Information gathering for law enforcement purposes

(1) For the purpose of obtaining information that may be of assistance to a law enforcement agency, the Commission, by notice in writing, may require a casino operator to provide the Commission with information obtained by the operator concerning gaming in the casino.

(2) A requirement under this section may relate to particular information or to information generally and may relate to particular or general information concerning a specified person.

(3) A notice under this section must specify—
(a) the kind of information that the casino operator is required to provide; and
(b) the manner in which the information is to be provided.

(4) It is a condition of a casino licence that the casino operator must comply with the requirements of a notice under this section.
Section 10.5.16 of the **Gambling Regulation Act 2003** creates an offence of giving information that is false or misleading in a material particular that applies to this section.

(5) The Commission may make information obtained by the Commission under this section available to any law enforcement agency.

***law enforcement agency*** means—
(a) Victoria Police or the police force or police service of any other State or Territory; or
(b) the Australian Federal Police; or
(c) the Australian Crime Commission; or
(d) the New South Wales Crime Commission; or
(e) any other authority or person responsible for the enforcement of the laws of the Commonwealth or of this or any other State or of a Territory.
