Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This instrument declares Broome Airport in Western Australia as a controlled aerodrome — meaning an airport where air traffic control services are provided.

What this means:

Pilots using Broome Airport must follow specific rules for controlled airspace (regulated zones around the airport)
They need permission (clearance) from air traffic control to take off, land, or taxi in certain areas
This ensures coordinated aircraft movements to prevent collisions

Who is affected:

Pilots and airlines operating at Broome Airport
The airport operator, which must meet standards for providing air traffic services

Why it matters: Controlled aerodromes have stricter safety protocols than uncontrolled ones. This classification ensures aviation safety standards match the level of aircraft activity at Broome.
