Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This instrument granted a temporary, narrow exemption (1 Oct 2009–30 Sep 2011) allowing Australian-registered Cessna 525B jets over 5,700 kg on private flights to forgo the normal flight data recorder requirement if they carried an approved cockpit voice recorder instead. It applied only to affected owners/operators who otherwise didn’t meet FDR rules and did not relieve them of any other safety obligations.
