This instrument temporarily exempts Airnorth (Capiteq Limited)’s Embraer ERJ-170 and ERJ-190 from the usual requirement to carry life rafts on overwater flights, but only for non-extended range operations that remain within the lesser of 60 minutes’ single‑engine cruise or 400 NM of an adequate aerodrome. It provided operational flexibility while ensuring proximity to safe diversion airports and expired in May 2009.
