Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This instrument grants a temporary, one-day exemption allowing two specific pilots to perform acrobatic flights at night during the Avalon Air Show in 2009.

Normally, the Civil Aviation Regulations 1988 ban aerobatic flying after dark (specifically paragraph 155(1)(a)). This exemption lifts that prohibition for:

Robert Jay Carlton, piloting a jet-powered glider (H101 SALTO, registration N-101AZ); and
Kent Pietsch, piloting an Interstate S1A Cadet aircraft (registration N-37361).

The exemption applies only to the night display at the Australian International Air Show 2009 at Avalon, Victoria, and only on 13 March 2009. Outside of this specific event, date, and these two pilots, the normal night flying restrictions remain in full force.
