Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this does: This is a one-day exemption allowing a specific pilot to perform acrobatic stunts at night during an airshow.

Who it affects:

Robert Jay Carlton — the pilot in command
Aircraft: Alisport SRL Silent-IN jet glider (registration N320AM)
Event: Night display at the Australian International Air Show 2007 at Avalon

What it allows: Normally, Australian aviation rules (paragraph 155(1)(a) of the Civil Aviation Regulations 1988) ban acrobatic flying at night for safety reasons. This instrument temporarily lifts that ban for this specific pilot and aircraft during the airshow display on 23 March 2007 only.

Why it matters: It shows how the aviation safety regulator (CASA) can grant short-term exemptions for special events like airshows, balancing public entertainment against strict safety rules.
