Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This instrument grants a temporary exemption for one specific aircraft — a CASA C-212 plane (registration VH-MQE) — allowing it to operate without standard 'black box' recording devices (digital flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder).

Normally, aircraft must carry these recorders to help investigators determine the cause of accidents. However, this approval permits the plane to fly without them strictly for military parachute training conducted by the Australian Defence Force's Parachute Training School.

Key points:

Applies to: Only one aircraft (serial number 318, registration VH-MQE)
Valid for: A short period in 2007 (from the day after registration until the end of June 2007)
Restriction: Can only be used for ADF parachute training operations
Other rules: The aircraft must still comply with all other safety requirements under Civil Aviation Order 20.18

This is essentially a limited, time-specific permission for a specialized military training operation.
