Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This instrument granted Capiteq Pty Ltd (Airnorth) a temporary exemption allowing its Embraer 170-100 jets (up to 78 seats) to operate with one cabin attendant per 50 seats instead of the usual one per 36. It directly affected the airline, passengers on those flights, and cabin crew rostered under the reduced staffing.

Use of the relief required attendants at specific forward/aft doors for critical phases, a demonstrated 90‑second evacuation, approved passenger briefings, and inclusion in Airnorth’s operations manual; it ran 1 June 2016–31 May 2017.
