Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This instrument removes an outdated aviation safety rule about minimum runway widths for aeroplanes.

What it does

Cancels CASA 61/12: This repeals an older instrument that specified how wide runways had to be for aeroplanes to use them.
Timing: It commences immediately after the Civil Aviation Amendment (Narrow Runways) Regulation 2014 takes effect, ensuring a smooth handover to the new rules.

Who it affects Pilots and airport operators who were required to follow the minimum runway width standards set out in CASA 61/12.

Why it matters It tidies up the aviation regulations by removing redundant rules. The technical requirements for runway widths are now handled by the newer Narrow Runways Regulation instead.
