Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This instrument removes outdated regulatory rules that applied specifically to Vodafone Pty Limited.

In 1997, the government imposed special licence conditions on Vodafone through a specific declaration. This 2014 instrument revokes (cancels) that old declaration, meaning those particular 1997 conditions no longer apply to the company.

What this means:

For Vodafone: The company is released from specific obligations imposed in 1997 and will instead operate under the standard carrier licence conditions that apply to all telecommunications companies.
For consumers: This is part of broader telecommunications deregulation—streamlining rules by removing old, specific requirements that may no longer be necessary or relevant to modern network operations.
Legal effect: Once this instrument commences, the 1997 Declaration has no further effect, as if it had been deleted from the statute books.
