Carrier Licence Conditions (Optus Networks Pty Ltd) Instrument of Revocation 2014

This Act has been repealed and is no longer in force. It is retained for historical reference.

This instrument removes old regulatory conditions that were imposed on Optus (the telecommunications company) back in 1997.

What it does:

Revokes (cancels) the Carrier Licence Conditions (Optus Networks Pty Ltd) Declaration 1997
This effectively removes specific rules or restrictions that previously applied to Optus's telecommunications licence under the Telecommunications Act 1997

Who it affects:

Primarily Optus Networks Pty Ltd
Potentially affects competitors and consumers by changing the regulatory framework that applies to Optus

Why it matters:

It is a regulatory cleanup — removing outdated licence conditions from the 1990s that may no longer be necessary or relevant to modern telecommunications markets
The instrument is self-terminating: it commences the day after registration and automatically expires the following day, since its only job is to revoke the old declaration
