Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This document is essentially the 'go live' button for part of Australia's carbon farming laws.

Made by the Governor-General, it formally declares that Schedule 1 of the Carbon Farming Initiative Amendment Act 2014 starts on 13 December 2014.

What this means:

The amendments contained in that Schedule—which change how the Carbon Farming Initiative (CFI) operates—became legally enforceable on that specific date
Farmers, landholders, and carbon project developers became subject to the new rules from 13 December 2014 onwards
Without this proclamation, those changes would have remained dormant on the statute books indefinitely

It is a purely procedural instrument (a formal timing mechanism) rather than a substantive law-making document.
