41L Project emissions: displacement abatement
(1) The project emissions for project biomethane facility m for a reporting period, PEdisplacement, m (in tonnes CO2-e), is worked out using the formula (equation 26):

EF, displacement, m is the emissions from fuel that is specifically attributable to the operation of project biomethane facility m during the reporting period (including transport), in tonnes CO2-e, worked out using equation 27 (section 41N).
EPE, displacement, m is the emissions from purchased electricity that is specifically attributable to the operation of project biomethane facility m during the reporting period, in tonnes CO2-e, worked out using equation 28 (section 41O).
(2) In determining EF, displacement, m and EPE, displacement, m, fuel and purchased electricity used for biogas generation for biomethane and emissions destruction project activities are to be disregarded.
Note: Examples of fuel and purchased electricity uses to be disregarded include fuel and electricity used in the operation of anaerobic digesters or transport of biogas to a biogas upgrading system. This ensures that double counting of project emissions does not occur. Project emissions from fuel and electricity used in biogas generation for biomethane and emissions destruction are accounted for when working out net displacement abatement in Division 2 of this Part.
