Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this does: This regulation deletes four old sets of rules about rifle clubs that were created under the Defence Act 1903.

What is being repealed: It removes:

Statutory Rules 1948 No. 94
Statutory Rules 1968 No. 58
Statutory Rules 1976 No. 37
Statutory Rules 1976 No. 192

What this means: These old regulations governing Australian rifle clubs no longer exist. Any specific rules or requirements that applied to rifle clubs under these Defence Act regulations are now gone. However, rifle clubs may still need to follow other federal, state, or territory laws regarding firearms and safety.

Why it matters: This is a 'cleanup' operation to remove outdated regulations from the statute books, simplifying the law by abolishing old Defence Act rules that likely became unnecessary or were replaced by other regulatory schemes.
