Plain English Summary

What this does

This regulation completely removes (repeals) the National Security (Excise) Regulations made in 1940.

Why it matters

During World War II, the Australian Government created many emergency regulations under the National Security Act to control the economy and support the war effort. These included rules about excise — taxes on locally made goods like alcohol, tobacco, and petrol.

This 1943 regulation simply cancels those 1940 excise regulations, likely because they were no longer needed or had been replaced by other tax laws. It is a "housekeeping" measure that tidies up the statute book by removing outdated wartime rules.

Who it affects

This affects anyone who was subject to the 1940 excise regulations, effectively ending those specific rules. In practice, this would have been manufacturers and wholesalers dealing with excisable goods during the war period.
