REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE ACT 1903-1915.

Regulations for the Employment of Persons in a Civil Capacity in Connexion with the Department of Defence under Section 63 Sub-sections 1 and 2 of the Defence Act.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby certify that the following Regulations under the Defence Act 1903-1915 shall come into operation on and from the first day of July, 1915.

Such Regulations shall supersede the Provisional Regulations (Statutory Rules 1915, No. 221) under the said Act made on the fifteenth day of November, 1915.

REGULATIONS FOR THE EMPLOYMENT OF PERSONS IN A CIVIL CAPACITY IN CONNEXION WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENCE UNDER SECTION 63 SUB-SECTIONS 1 AND 2 OF THE DEFENCE ACT.

Definitions.

1. In these Regulations, unless the contrary intention appears:—

“The Act” means the Defence Act 1903-1915;

“Minister” means the Minister of State for Defence;

“Secretary” means the Secretary to the Department of Defence;

“Chief Officer’’ means the Secretary to the Department of Defence; the Commandant of a Military District; or, as regards officers appointed under these Regulations, the Commandant of the Royal Military College;

“Officer” means a person who is employed, in pursuance of sub-sections 1 and 2 of section 63 of the Act, in a civil capacity in connexion with the Department of Defence, and who is appointed by the Governor-General;

“Employé” means a person (other than an officer) who is employed, in pursuance of sub-sections 1 and 2 of section 63 of the Act, in a civil capacity in connexion with the Department of Defence.

Responsibility of Secretary.

2. The Secretary shall be responsible for the general administration of persons employed in a civil capacity under section 63 of the Act, and shall advice the Minister on all matters relating thereto.
