Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This regulation broadens the Commonwealth Statistician’s annual data collection to nine additional areas (e.g. local government, water supply, taxes, defence/police, public health, education, fishing, silk and fruit), expanding what national statistics can cover. It affects government agencies, local councils, businesses and households required to supply data. It matters because it legally enables more detailed social and economic information for policy-making, and took immediate effect under urgent certification.
