This Act authorises the issue and application of £282,834 from the Consolidated Revenue Fund to pay Commonwealth expenses for the year ending 30 June 1902. It empowers the Treasurer to apply the money for the specific purposes listed in the Schedule and makes the funds available to meet warrants signed by the Governor‑General; no moneys may be spent under the Act after 30 June 1902.
The Schedule allocates sums to Parliament and various departments (including Defence and the Postmaster‑General), so the Act directly affects those agencies and, indirectly, taxpayers who supply the Consolidated Revenue Fund.

BE it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty the Senate and the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia for the purpose of appropriating the grant originated in the House of Representatives as follows:—
Issue and application of £282,834.
