25 Time limit for registration of leases and provision to tenants (1) A retail shop lease is taken to include provisions to the following (a) if the lease is not to be registered, the landlord must provide the tenant with an executed copy of the stamped lease within one month after the lease is returned to the landlord or the landlord's legal practitioner or agent following payment of stamp duty on the lease; (b) if the lease is to be registered, the landlord: (i) must lodge the lease for registration within one month after the lease is returned to the landlord or the landlord's legal practitioner or agent following payment of stamp duty on the lease; and (ii) must provide the tenant with an executed copy of the stamped and registered lease within one month after the lease is returned to the landlord or the landlord's legal practitioner or agent following registration of the lease; (c) the periods specified in paragraphs (a) and (b) are to be extended for delays attributable to the need to obtain consent from a head landlord or mortgagee. (2) This section does not affect the operation of the Stamp Duty Act 1978 or the Land Title Act 2000. (3) In this section: registered means registered under the Land Title Act 2000.
