39Termination of appointment

39 Termination of appointment (1) The Minister may terminate the appointment of a member of a regional committee who: (a) in the opinion of the Minister, is guilty of misbehaviour or incompetence; or (b) ceases to be ordinarily resident within the fire management zone of the regional committee. (2) The Minister must terminate the appointment of a member of a regional committee who: (a) becomes bankrupt, applies to take the benefit of any law for the relief of bankrupt or insolvent debtors, compounds with the member's creditors or makes an assignment of remuneration for their benefit; or (b) in the opinion of the Minister, is of unsound mind; or (c) is absent from 3 consecutive meetings of the regional committee, except on leave granted by the committee. (3) A member of a regional committee may resign by giving written notice to the Minister.
