14 Executive director
(1) Subject to the direction and control of the Chief Executive Officer,
the executive director is responsible for the management of
Bushfires NT.
(2) Without limiting subsection (1), the functions of the executive
director are:
(a) to implement measures for the mitigation, management and
suppression of bushfires; and
(b) to assist the Council and each regional committee generally in
the exercise of its powers and the performance of its functions
and duties; and
(c) to determine how Government funded firefighting assets are to
be allocated among volunteer bushfire brigades.
(3) The executive director has the powers necessary to perform the
executive director's functions.
(4) Without limiting subsection (3), the executive director may, by
written notice given to the captain of a volunteer bushfire brigade,
direct the captain to transfer Government funded firefighting assets
held by the brigade and specified in the notice to another brigade
specified in the notice.
(5) The executive director may delegate any of the executive director's
powers and functions under this Act to a public sector employee.

(6) The Chief Executive Officer:
(a) has, and may exercise, all the powers of the executive
director; and
(b) may perform any of the functions of the executive director.
