53 Duration of right An exclusive right of burial expires on: (a) the day that is 50 years after the day on which the right was issued; or (b) if the certificate issued under section 52(1) specifies a shorter period for the duration of the right – the earlier date. Note for section 53 Division 3, Subdivision 3 sets out the process for the expiry and renewal of an exclusive right of burial.
