> > (1) In this Part—

> > authorised officer means—
> >
> > > (a) a person employed in the Department who is appointed under this Part as an authorised officer, or
> >
> > > (b) an investigator appointed under section 18 of the [Fair Trading Act 1987](/view/html/inforce/current/act-1987-068).

> > (2) The Secretary may appoint persons employed in the Department as authorised officers for the purposes of this Part.
>
> > (3) A person appointed under subsection (2) is to be provided by the Secretary with a certificate of identification.
>
> > (4) An authorised officer must, when exercising on any premises any function of the authorised officer under this Part, produce the officer’s certificate of identification to any person apparently in charge of the premises who requests its production.
