### 247 Building order relating to illegal building work > > (1)  [*\[Section 247 Subsection (1) amended by No. 9 of 2023, s. 20, Applied:01 Oct 2024\]*](/view/html/inforce/2024-10-01/act-2023-009#GS20@EN) In addition to a building order under [section 246](#GS246@EN) , a permit authority is to serve a building order on an owner of premises where building work is performed, or on a builder performing building work, in contravention of this Act if the permit authority does not revoke a building notice in respect of that building work. > > > (2)  A building order in respect of building work performed in contravention of this Act is to require the owner at the owner's choice – > > > > > > (a) to demolish the building work or building; or > > > > > > > (b) to complete any remaining building work in accordance with this Act. > > > (3)  A building order under this section may be – > > > > > > (a) a separate building order; or > > > > > > > (b) combined with a building order under [section 246](#GS246@EN) or [section 248](#GS248@EN) .
