72A Application (1) An application for a certificate of substantial compliance may be made to a building certifier by the owner of a building or by the owner's agent. Building Act 1993 84 (2) An owner or owner's agent may apply for a certificate of substantial compliance: (a) after carrying out building work in or on a building of a class (b) if all building work specified in the building permit that is essential to the class of the building was carried out while the building permit was in force. Note for section 72A An application for a certificate of substantial compliance may be made before or after the expiry of the building permit for the building work to which the application relates.
