52 Adopted codes and standards (1) The Regulations may incorporate by reference, either wholly or in part and with or without modification, any standards, codes, rules, specifications or methods (each of which is an adopted code or standard), as in force at a particular time or as in force from time to time, prescribed or published by an authority or body, whether or not it is a Territory authority or body. (1A) Despite subsection (1), the Minister may, by Gazette notice, declare that specified provisions of an adopted code or standard do not apply for a period specified in the notice. (1B) If a declaration under subsection (1A) disapplies a provision of an adopted code or standard that modifies or substitutes another provision of the adopted code or standard, the effect of the declaration is that the modified or substituted provision is taken to remain in force for the specified period. Building Act 1993 53 (1C) The period specified under subsection (1A) may be fixed by reference to the occurrence of a specified event. (2) An adopted code or standard may require anything mentioned in it to be in accordance with another document mentioned in the adopted code or standard. (3) The Director: (a) must ensure a copy of every adopted code or standard, and every document mentioned in it, is available for inspection by members of the public at the office of the Director, without charge, during normal office hours; and (b) may make available copies of all or part of an adopted code or standard or other document mentioned in paragraph (a) for purchase by members of the public on payment of such charge as the Director requires.
