What this does

These regulations set the specific hours when TV stations must meet Australian local content rules under the Broadcasting Services Act 1992.

The rules

Daytime hours: 5:00 am to 8:00 pm each day (used for standard local content requirements under section 43C of the Act)
Prime‑time hours: 5:00 am to 8:00 pm each day (used for additional regional local content requirements under section 61CA of the Act)

Why it matters

Commercial TV broadcasters must air a minimum amount of Australian-made programs during these time windows. These regulations simply draw the lines on the clock — from 5 in the morning until 8 in the evening — to determine when those quotas apply.
